Robe RoboSpot

Remote followspot native to the Robe ecosystem — one BaseStation, up to a dozen fixtures on the pickup.

What it is

RoboSpot is Robe's remote followspot system: an operator at a BaseStation — 15.6" HD touchscreen, jog wheels, faders — drives a camera-equipped Robe fixture in the rig, and up to 12 fixtures can follow the same pickup. Because it's native to Robe's fixture families, the integration inside an existing Robe rig is close to plug-and-play.

How we work with it

We program RoboSpot workflows into the wider rig: deciding which cues are operator-authoritative, merging BaseStation control with the console's programming, and training operators. Our RoboSpot work includes new-musical production work where remote pickups ran alongside a TAIT LightStrike integration on the same show.

The honest read

Right when

  • The rig is already substantially Robe — the native integration is the shortest path to remote pickups.
  • One operator needs to drive several fixtures on the same target.
  • Followspot positions in the house are unavailable and the pickup has to move into the rig.

Look elsewhere when

  • The fixture inventory is mixed or changes venue to venue — a fixture-agnostic system (Macula, GroundControl) travels better.
  • The show needs positions as rig-wide tracking data rather than followspot control alone.
Common questions

Does RoboSpot work with non-Robe fixtures?

It's designed around Robe's ecosystem — that's both its strength (deep native integration) and its boundary. On mixed inventories we look at fixture-agnostic alternatives and say so plainly; we don't take commissions from anyone.
